I’ve noticed that the shuffle plays things in clumps based on when I loaded them onto the iPod. For example, if I loaded three albums in one day and put it on shuffle, it’ll play something from album #1 then something else, then something from album #3, then something from album #2, then something else, then something else, then something from album #3, etc…
It’s not random.
My theory is that since the iPod optimizes the arrangement of files on its hard drive, shuffle does something so it’s not always going from one end of the hard drive to the other end… Instead, it plays things grouped fairly closely together on the hard drive to minimize thrashing…
